I feel it was self rising flour because that's all she bought...maybe eggs, sugar and milk...but I don't know the amounts. She always had the ingredients on hand so I think it was simple.

I have been looking for my husband's Grandma's sweet bread recipe for over 40 year and have not been successful in his opinion. We have decided that the reason is more a sweet memory of Grandma than the bread.

there are many variations to sweet bread...here's one of the easiest ever.
EASY SWEET BREAD | | 3 c. of flour 1 sm. pkg. Jiffy cake mix (white) 1 pkg. dry yeast 1 1/2 c. warm water
Mix together in bowl. Let rise. Work down. Make 16 to 18 rolls. Let rise again. Bake 350 to 375 degrees until brown |

When I was little we didn't go to the grocery store very often and Grandma would make us what she called "sweet bread" so we could have something sweet to eat occassionally. Does anyone know a recipe? It was simple, but delicious and she usually served it with peaches.
