If I were planning to can cabbage I would shred it like collards, blanch it in boiling, slightly salted water for about 3 minutes, and then rinse it in an ice bath. Drain, bag i a freezer bag, and freeze it. I would not overload my freezer with too much at a time so as to be able to keep my freezer at zero temperature.
I would cook it exactly the same as frozen collards, just not too long. Frozen leafy vegetables will cook soft rather quickly.

you will want to blanche it first. Meaning don't cook it...drop it into boiling water for 3 minutes...drain and cool...pack into jars and pour a bit of the boiling water in it too, about a 1/4 inch from top and pressure can it....there is not enough acid in cabbage to safely water bath can it.
Might wanna add a pinch of salt too.
Also be careful as to how long to pressure can it....cabbage really isn't good for canning .
You're really better off freezing it.
